This is a Middle School Basketball Team fundraiser event. * June 8 – VFW meeting at 6:30 p.m. at 148 E Church Street. All veterans are encouraged to be a part of the Lewisburg Veteran community.

To be named to the Dean’s List, undergraduates must complete at least 12 credit hours in a term and earn a term GPA between 3.5 and 4.0.

Autumn Sweatt, salutatorian of Marshall County High School, received the Lewisburg Rotary Scholarship. Autumn plans to attend Dartmouth College and major in psychiatry/neuroscience.

Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop is officially set to welcome guests on June 24, introducing a travel experience built around the idea that every stop on the highway should feel a little more like home.

Career Day at Oak Grove Elementary
Students at Oak Grove Elementary got a glimpse into the world of work during an exciting Career Day on May 5th. Community helpers shared what they do and how they help others. Oak Grove students welcomed Lewisburg Electric System, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Lewisburg Animal Hospital, Marshall County EMS, and Volunteer Materials. Students were able to connect their learning to real-life careers while inspiring future dreams.
Just a bit of Marshall County history
M arshall County was a part of the great tract of land purchased by Richard Henderson from the Cherokees on March 15, 1775. In 1783, the state of North Carolina sent commissioners to this portion of Tennessee, which was then within the borders of the state, to survey lands bestowed upon her soldiers for their services in the Wars of the Revolution. Eighty prospectors and guards crossed the Duck River near the mouth of Flat Creek and passed south of Elk River on their mission. These were the first white men ever in Marshall County.
