B lame it on Daylight Saving Time discombobulating my circadian rhythm, but a smorgasbord of random thoughts has swirled in my noggin recently.
Columbia State Announces Fall 2025 Dean’s List
C olumbia State Community College is pleased to announce that 664 students were named to the dean’s list for earning academic honors during the Fall 2025 semester. “Students who achieve academic excellence at this level are to be lauded for their achievement,” said Dr. Janet F. Smith, Columbia State president. “They are maintaining a high level of academic performance while managing multiple obligations that for some may include jobs, families and extra-curricular activities. That takes an outstanding level of commitment to achieve.”

2025 Conservation Farmer of the Year – Amanda Collins
Each year, the Marshall County Soil & Water Conservation District recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to conservation of natural resources on their land. The district is proud to announce Amanda Collins as the 2025 Marshall County Conservation Farmer of the Year. This award is part of a state program sponsored by the Tennessee Association of Conservation Districts with the cooperation of the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture and Marshall County SWCD.

Locations to pick up trees
The 12th Annual TREE DAY will be occurring in all 95 counties in TN on Saturday March 21st! We are excited that the following locations will have trees available to pick up and plant in Marshall County!

Structure Fire on Troy Drive
O n March 12, 2026, the Lewisburg Fire Department, Marshall County EMS, Marshall County OEM, and Lewisburg Police Department responded to a structure fire at 1407 Troy Drive in Lewisburg.


Walker awarded Quilt of Valor
On March 3, 2026, Kenneth Walker was presented a Quilt of Valor for his service in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971. The presentation took place at The Quilting Squares Quilt Shop, located at 1276 Lewisburg Pike in Franklin. The quilt was made by the Scrappy Chicks of Columbia, Tenn. who also hosted the presentation.
