‘Mrs. Gilbert Shining Star Award’

O ak Grove Elementary announces their recipients of the “Mrs. Gilbert Shining Star Award” for the 2025-2026 school year. This award is given in honor and memory of Mrs. Shawn Gilbert, 1st grade teacher. Mrs. Gilbert was a “Shining Star” to those whose lives she touched. She was a shining example of living a life filled with love, joy, and service to others. These students were chosen for exhibiting those same qualities. Congratulations to these wonderful students.

Are you excited about the U.S. timecapsule?

C ertainly, I look forward to becoming reacquainted with all the groovy hairstyles, dated slang and kitschy doodads in a couple of years when my high school classmates open our 50-year time capsule; but I suspect most patriotic citizens are currently more focused on America’s Time Capsule.

Community BBQ and Silent Auction

O n Saturday, March 28, starting at 4:00 p.m., there will be a fundraiser to support Emmy Bruce who is battling breast cancer. BBQ plates $15, Kids’ plates $8. Easter Bunny photos can be taken and there will be a Silent and Dessert Auction. This fundraiser will take place at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 304 N Main Street in Chapel Hill.
