Brenda Wooten Matthews, 78, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Marshall Medical Center.

Brenda was born February 7, 1948, in Lewisburg, Tennessee, to the late Adrian and Gladys Stewmon Wooten.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Benny Matthews; two sons, Jeremy (April) Matthews of Gautier, Miss. and Jeffrey Matthews of Pulaski; four grandchildren, Blade, Briley, Brooklyn, and Raven.

Prior to retirement, she was self-employed as a caterer serving delicious meals always with a friendly smile. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her talents with friends, family, and especially her church family at Church Street Church of Christ. Earlier in her career, she worked for David Jent Insurance as an insurance agent. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, singing and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She served on many mission trips where her cooking talents were truly enjoyed. She was a wonderful friend, faithful Christian, and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Visitation with the family was held at London Funeral Home and Crematory, 324 W. Church St., Lewisburg, TN, on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

The funeral service was conducted on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at London Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Berea Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a Disaster Relief program or to Tennessee Children’s Home.

Pallbearers included Richard Matthews, Grant Matthews, Danny Morgan, Joel Schwartz, Keith Martin, and Freddie Stewmon. Honorary pallbearers were Kent Stewmon, David Zimmerle, and Wesley Augustine.
