Sawyer & Lane Co. Children’s Boutique is a ‘sweet, stylist’ shop for kids
F ayetteville’s newest newborn and children’s clothing store — held its grand opening in January where owners and sisters-in-law Baleigh Smith and Daisy Smith transformed the 817 Mulberry Avenue building into a “sweet, stylist boutique.” Located minutes from the downtown square in Fayetteville, Sawyer & Lane Co. carries thoughtfully selected clothing from newborns to big kids’ size 12, accessories, gifts and more.
Baleigh Smith, who is originally from Marshall County and a graduate of Cornersville High School, said the store allows flexibility to be with her daughter Brynlee and homeschool her. Brynlee contributes to the store by making and selling beaded bracelets and modeling girl’s clothing.
Daisy Smith said Baleigh remembered looking for cute boys’ clothes for her son, Sawyer. “I wanted to have more country looking clothes,” she said.
While looking for a location for the store, Baleigh said she remembered passing a vacant building at 817 Mulberry Avenue in Lincoln County. Baleigh contacted the building owner and she and Daisy were able to rent it. They “transformed the building into a lovely clothing store for babies and children.”
Store offerings include quality newborn attire and boys and girls clothing up to size 12, along with, accessories, boots, sandals and more. Name brands include Goosie, Rylee Faith, Abby & Evie, Wild Threads and Southern Hyde. Shoppers will discover little surprises everywhere like fuzzy squeaky baby slippers, pajamas, soft animal rattles, books, cups, stuffed toys, cuddle blankets, gifts and more.
Sawyer & Lane is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21. The open house will include photos with the Easter Bunny, treats for kids and face painting. During the event guests can check out the new spring clothing.
The store name is in remembrance and honor of Baleigh’s husband, Lane, and their son, Sawyer. Lane was Daisy’s brother and Sawyer was her nephew. On May 11, 2025, Lane lost his life as the family was traveling from Chattanooga back home when they were involved in a horrific accident. Sawyer passed away less than a week later as a result of his injuries. He was less than two years old. Baleigh’s 9-year-old daughter, Brynlee Pruitt, was badly burned in the crash and has since had multiple skin grafts.
Baleigh said she’s grateful for the support from people in Lincoln County and Marshall County and as far away as Chicago and Texas.
Sawyer attended Little Blessings Daycare near McBurg. Baleigh said she still talks each week to Ms. Tammy at Little Blessings Daycare. Baleigh and Lane’s father plan to set up a fund to help one struggling mother who has recently given birth to a baby and has to return to work. “It’s a family struggle,” said Baleigh. Each year they plan to help pay for the child’s daycare at Little Blessings. “They were a blessing to us,” said Baleigh.
Sawyer & Lane. Co is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturdays. To see more of the “adorable attire and gifts,” go to https:// sawyerandlaneco. square.site or their Facebook page. For more information, call 931-993-4975.
