Mr. James Tyrone “Ty” McClain was born in Lewisburg, Tenn. on November 30, 1951, to the late Marzee F. McClain. He departed this life on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in Seattle, Wash.
Ty, as he was known to his Tennessee family and friends, attended Jones Training School. Following his graduation, he attended the University of Detroit, where he pledged and became a proud member of y. Afterwards, he relocated to Seattle, Wash. where he completed his education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marzee F. McClain; grandmother, Sadie N. Jones and grandfather, James W. McClain. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Glynis McClain of Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Paulette Carter of Detroit, Mich.; three sons, Karauki Bell, Derek Nunn of Seattle, Wash. and Jeremy (Elaina) McClain of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren, Ameena Carter, Ephrain Carter and Tariq Carter of Spring Hill, Tenn. and Jru and Jrae McClain of Tulsa, Okla.; three sisters, Cheryl (Will) Taylor, Novella (Hundley) Ford and Michelle “Stoochie” McClain of Lewisburg, Tenn.; three brothers, Thomas (Sue) McClain of Lewisburg, Tenn., Jack Allison of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Charles Allison of Smyrna, Tenn.; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at noon at the Cook Memorial Cemetery in Lewisburg, Tenn.
