Wreck in Chapel Hill

Saturday night, Sept. 23, a black Nissan Altima and a white Toyota Avalon were involved in an accident on North Horton Parkway in Chapel Hill. The two vehicles were heavily damaged and hydraulic rescue tools were required to extricate two critically injured patients.

Chapel Hill Police Chief stated that the first responders and fire department were the first on the scene and he commends them for doing a great job. Multiple units including Marshall County EMS and Chapel Hill Fire Dept. were on the scene, as well at THP, who is assisting in the investigation.

One patient was transported by medical helicopter to Skyline Medical Center and the five year old patient was transported by a medical helicopter to Vandy Peds. It has been reported that the five year old has a two broken bones in his left leg, injuries around his neck, and bruised. He has been released from Vanderbilt and is now at home.

No reports have been given on the other patient.

Charges have not yet been filed at this time and it is not known if alcohol was involved.

An investigation is ongoing.
