On Monday afternoon, Dec. 11, emergency personnel responded to a fire at 991 Double Bridges Rd. Rebecca Russell, age 23, was life lighted to Vanderbilt after sustaining second and third degree burns. The house was a total loss. Close to 79% of Russell’s burns were “full thickness” or third-degree.
According to Kevin Callahan, the Office of Emergency Management was first on scene and took initial command. There were six responders initially and mutual aid was requested. Firetrucks came from Farmington, Berlin, Chapel Hill, and Lewisburg. Also on scene were Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County EMS, Duck River Electric, and THP.
A spokesperson from The Office of Emergency Management said there was evidence of an explosion but the investigation is still ongoing. Rebecca is the 23 year old daughter of Rick and Tammy Russell and is facing a long road ahead. There has been a Go Fund Me set up to help the family in this difficult time.
