L-R: Sgt. Lonny Cook, Kim Solomon, Mike Martinez, Chief Scott Braden, and Frank Sullivan display the coats that will be given to local kids.

Thursday, Dec. 4, Mike Martinez, Chair of Local UAW 1853-Retiree Chapter, was in Lewisburg to deliver boxes of coats, a total of 42 coats, to the “Cops for Kids Program,” continuing a long-standing tradition. This Retiree Chapter has been working with the Lewisburg Police Department since 1994, strengthening community ties over the decades. This year, Martinez and the Retiree Chapter, partnered with Kohl’s to purchase coats, helping ensure children stay warm during the colder months. This year, the “Cops for Kids Program” partnered with HOPEtown, which will oversee the distribution of the coats.
