WHITE HOUSE — For the past two weeks, the Marshall County Tigers have had to make lengthy road trips to face its region opposition.
In Week 4, the Tigers handled Greenbrier with a shutout victory to notch their second region win of the season.
On Friday night, Marshall County (4-1, 3-0) again made a lengthy trip and put forth perhaps their most complete game this season with a 53-14 blowout win at White House.
The Blue Devils (4-1, 2-1) entered Friday’s game unbeaten this season, but in the end, were no match to the hot start by the Tigers.
“Really happy with our business-like approach to the road trip. We challenged our kids to start the game fast. No better way to do that than to take the opening kick off back for a TD like Jamahl Gentry did,” Tiger coach Thomas Osteen said.
Gentry took the game’s opening drive 70 yards to the house and Wyatt Joyce connected on his first of six extra points for the early 7-0 Tiger lead.
The Tigers defense was able to get off the field on the following handful of possessions and set up the Marshall County offense with stellar field position.
A fumble recovery set the Tigers up on the White House 35-yard line and senior quarterback Silas Teat hit Aja Jones on a 17-yard touchdown pass for his first of four scores on the night.
“The defense got a couple quick stops and the offense executed from the start to put us up 21-0 very quickly,” Osteen said.
Later in the quarter, Teat hit Kel Hightower on an 11-yard touchdown pass as well, giving Marshall County a 21-0 lead.
White House finally got on the board early in the second quarter on an 8-yard touchdown run, but again, the Tigers were able to flex their might and got the offensive wheels rolling to close the half with 17-straight points
Joyce hit a 42-yard field goal and then Teat hit Jones on a 21-yard pass.
Kamariq Perryman added the final score of the half on a 21-yard run.
By halftime, the Tigers built a 39-7 lead.
The Tigers padded their lead to reach a running clock in the second half with a 10-yard pass from Teat to Jones, for his fourth touchdown of the night, while Khamani Ewing returned an interception 70 yards for a defensive score.
Teat completed 11-of-18 passes for 217 yards and four touchdowns, with Jones making three catches for 43 yards—all of which went for touchdowns.
Jayden Randolph also made three catches for 68 yards as well.
“We have definitely gotten into a much better offensive rhythm the past couple weeks. Silas has done a great job managing the game and distributing the

Aja Jones made just three catches on Friday night, but all three went for touchdowns and he finished with 43 receiving yards.

football around. We are blessed with a very deep wide receiver core that makes us tough to defend,” Osteen said.
While the offense is beginning to click on all cylinders, it’s been the Tigers’ defense that’s shined brightly in the four Marshall County wins.
In four wins, Marshall County’s defense has given up an average of just 6.25 points per game, including two shutout wins.
“I think our kids have just been committed to the process each week of getting better. We played very complimentary football the last couple weeks with all three phases working together,” Osteen said.
After region victories against Station Camp, Greenbrier and White House, the Tigers return home to Preston Hopkins Field on Friday night and will host Fayetteville, who became a Class 1A state power over the past few years, including a 2020 Class 1A state championship.
“Fayetteville has a great quarterback and is extremely talented on both sides of the ball. They have athletes all across the board and some size to go with it. They have played a very tough schedule to this point and are battle tested,” Osteen said.
