LEWISBURG — Not much didn’t go the Tigers’ way in the home finale on Senior Night against Lawrence County.
From the opening tip-off, Marshall County out-matched, out-played and simply out-classed visiting Lawrence County in a 65-27 domination.
Just three minutes into the game, the Tigers built a 10-0 lead and relied on a relentless full court defensive effort that Lawrence County flat out struggled to break.
The Wildcats had fits moving the ball across half-court and the Tigers seized the opportunity to create extra baskets in transition to balloon their lead.
The 3-ball was also falling for Marshall County, notably early on, as the Tigers connected on six 3-pointers in the opening quarter alone.
Kel Ford also created a mismatch in the paint for the home team and bullied his way to a game-high 16 points.
By the end of the first, the Tigers led 21-3.
Not much changed into the second frame, either, with Marshall County leading 35-5 with five minutes to go in the half.
Six more players scored before the half and by halftime, Marshall County led 42-8.
With the lead well in hand, the reserves were able to work their way onto the floor and despite a 12-point third quarter from Lawrence County, the Tigers closed out the game on a 24-19 run in the second half.
Joining Ford in double figures was Jayce Harney and Jabrae Howard, who scored 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Kemarion Allen and Jamahl Gentry added nine points each, as well.
Lawrence County’s Kale Scott was the top scorer for the visitors and finished with five points.
