SMITHVILLE — After riding the emotions of forcing an “if-needed” game in the District 8-AAA championship, and only falling on a walk-off RBI single, the Marshall County Tigerettes hoped to carry the momentum into the Region 4-AAA tournament.
Unfortunately for the Tigerettes, Marshall County ran into buzz saw at DeKalb County and saw its season come to a close with a 10-0 loss.
DeKalb County brought out the big bats and totaled three doubles, a triple and a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first.
Marshall County’s lone hit came courtesy of Zakiya Taylor in the first at-bat of the game.
Brookelyn Nunley went 1 1/3 innings before Abby Leverette pitched the final 2 2/3 innings in relief.
Marshall County ends the season with a 12-19 overall record.
