FRANKLIN — In Monday night’s season opener at Page, the Marshall County Tigerettes grabbed an early lead over the Lady Patriots, but Page answered with runs in each of the final four innings to take the 10-3 win.
Early on, the Tigerettes put the pressure on the Lady Patriots.
In the top of the first Marshall County put runners in scoring position with a pair of base hits, but were unable to string together enough hits to break the game open.
Starting pitcher Courtney Lynch followed with a perfect 1-2-3 first frame.
In the second, it was a RBI single by Reese Lentz to put the Tigerettes up 1-0.
Following a leadoff single in the second, Lynch settled in and again sat the Lady Patriots down in order.
In the third, however, the Lady Patriots pounced.
Page drew a leadoff walk, then recorded three-straight singles before a RBI single tied the game at one.
A double later in the inning plated two more Lady Patriot runs, before the Tigerettes recorded the second out when a Page runner advanced third to third.
Page went on to score two more runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and two more in the sixth, while Marshall County was unable to answer the barrage of Lady Patriot hits.
In total, Page connected on 12 hits, three of which went for doubles, but the biggest hit came on a leadoff home run in the bottom of the fifth.
Lentz led the Tigerettes at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a RBI, while Jachelle Ridley went 1-for-4 with a double.
Demiyah Blackman also connected on a pair of base hits.
Marshall County will return home on Thursday and host Community for its home opener at 5:30 p.m.
