Tiger cross country headed to state

After the Marshall County Tigerettes captured the Region 6A-AA championship and a third-place finish by the Marshall County Tigers, both teams will advance to participate in the Class A-AA state meet, held this week at Sanders Ferry Park.
In the regional meet, the Tigerettes saw Laike Perryman finish fourth-place overall in the region meet in a 22:03 final time.
The Tigerettes then placed in order from eighth to 12th in finishing order to help secure the first-place finish in the region.
Olympia Cathey finished in 23:17, followed by Alicia Ward Basabe, who finished in 23:23.
Kamea Johnson turned in a 23:28 final time, while Karlie Lohr and Elena Campos finished 23:30 and 23:31, respectively.
For the Tigers, Markel Harris was the top finisher, crossing the line in 15th overall in 19:22.
Aydan cook finished shortly behind in 20:28, while Michael Bishop turned in a 20:44 final time.
Dilum Wiles finished in 21:19 as well.
The Class A-AA girls race will be held on Friday at 1:50 p.m. at Sanders Ferry, with the boys set to follow at 2:40 p.m.
