Sidney Foster Caneer, 88, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, died Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at NHC Lewisburg.
He was born July 31, 1936, in Cornersville, Tennessee, to the late Sidney and Netho Underwood Caneer. He enjoyed farming on his land in Cornersville, deer hunting, and fishing. Prior to farming full-time, he worked as a foreman at Walker Dye Casting in Lewisburg. In his younger years, he loved playing basketball and played for two years at Martin Methodist College. He loved his Sun Drop almost as much as he loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2021 by his wife of 62 years, Theresa McConnell Caneer; three brothers, Ardell Caneer, G. D. Caneer, and Ellis Caneer; two sisters, Addean Wilburn and June Collins.
He is survived by two sons, Kenny (Tammy) Caneer and Keith (Donna) Caneer both of Cornersville; nephew, David (Vickie) Caneer of Lewisburg whom he raised from early childhood; seven grandchildren, Joey (Sacha) Caneer, Eric (Jeannie) Caneer, Chelsea (Mattt) Owens, Cody Caneer, Jesse Charron, Cassidy Pritchett, and Kelsey Bass; 11 great grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family was held at Cornersville Funeral Home, 310 North Main St., Cornersville, TN, on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. and continued Friday, December 6, 2024, until the funeral hour.
The funeral service was conducted on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cornersville Funeral Home with burial following in Beechwood Cemetery. Cornersville Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
