GORDONSVILLE — It was a long night for the Forrest Rockets (4-3) Friday as they took on the Gordonsville Tigers (4-3), taking the 31-7 loss.
On the first drive of the game, the Tigers strategically worked the ball upfield over eight plays in five minutes.
Senior running back Canaan Musgrove was a force to be reckoned with, carrying much of the weight himself until reaching the red zone, where quarterback J. Foster found Musgrove on a 17-yard touchdown pass with 6:58 on the clock. Gavin Kemp added the extra point, the Tigers up 7-0, the score holding through the first.
Over 14 plays and 81 yards that carried into the second quarter, Foster dropped a 12-yard touchdown pass to Dalton Hancock with 8:56 left in the half. The kick after was good, and the Tigers cushioned their lead to 14-0.

ohen Grissom and Fletcher Fields worked the ball into Tiger territory from the 14-yard line, Eli Bell ultimately crossing the goal line for the Rockets first touchdown on the night, but a Forrest penalty called the visiting team back to the 15-yard line.
After an incomplete pass, the Rockets attempted a field goal that was blocked by Gordonsville, the Rockets still scoreless with 3:53 left to play in the half.
The rest of the half belonged to the Tigers.
Waylon Kennedy and Jemario Williams worked together to keep moving the chains, landing the Tigers on the Rockets’ end of the field. Unable to convert for six, Gordonsville settled for a 34-yard field goal from Kemp with the clock at zero.
Heading into the half, the Tigers had a comfortable 17-0 lead.
The second half didn’t start well for the Rockets either.
After punting on their first possession, Williams continued to move the sticks for the Tigers.
Reaching the 11-yard line, Foster found Hancock on a touchdown pass.
Kemp cleared the uprights, Gordonsville with the 24-0 lead with 6:05 left in the third.

back to the Tigers on the Rocket 40-yard line.
On third down, Foster landed a pass to Hanock, the Tigers on the 3-yard line.
A penalty on the next play pushed the Tigers back to the 13-yard line. Unperturbed, Bryson Grisham took a 13-yard sprint into the end zone. After Kemp’s kick, the Tigers had a tight grip on the lead, 31-0, with 3:47 left in the third frame.
Not ready to back down, Bell went on a 46-yard run for the Rockets, putting them at the Tiger’s 15-yard line.
It was C. Grissom dipping into the end zone from the three to put the Rockets on the board with 1:05 left in the third quarter. Gavin Grissom kicked the extra point, the Tigers still holding a sizable lead at 31-7.
Although the Tigers attempted a field goal in the fourth, neither squad was able to convert, the final score standing at 31-7.
C. Grissom led both teams with 69 yards, Bell close behind with 64.
The Rockets will be at home this Friday, hosting Marion County for a region matchup. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
