CHAPEL HILL — It was a tough night on the hardwood for the Forrest Rockets on Tuesday as they hosted district opponent Cascade Champions in the 64-29 loss.
The shots weren’t falling and second chances weren’t coming for the Rockets in the first quarter, only scoring one point in the frame by way of the charity stripe, the Champions getting an early 25-1 lead.
The second frame held a more comparable competition, Forrest putting up eight while holding Cascade to 12, Wickey Parker giving the Rockets the most trouble under the basket with eight.
At the half, the Champions held a large 37-9 lead.
The second half proved to be a better one for Forrest, Tristan Goad and Ben Villazon coming together to carry the team through the third, the Rockets still trailing 52-23.
But heading into the fourth quarter, it was too little too late, the Champions continuing to outscore the Rockets, picking up the 64-29 win.
Cascade’s Zach Crosslin led all scorers with 11.
Goad led Forrest with nine.
