CHAPEL HILL — The Forrest Rockets (4-5) competed against an undefeated Moore County Raider (9-0) team Friday night in their last home game of the regular season.
Hoping to put an end to the Moore County win-streak, it was the Raiders who came away with the 35-10 win and spoiled the Rockets’ Senior Night.
Both squads took their time in the first quarter, each with one drive in the 12-minute frame.
For the Raiders, it was the Dawson White and Logan Hegwood duo moving the chains, White finding Hegwood on a 6-yard touchdown pass with 7:53 left in the first.
Jackson Ross added the extra point, to give Moore County the early lead.
The Rockets spent the rest of the quarter working their way into Raider territory. Liam and Eli Bell, with the help of Cohen Grissom, kept picking up first downs, finally reaching the 8-yard line early in the second frame.
Unable to keep the chain smoving, Gavin Grissom kicked the 24-yard field goal, putting the Rockets on the board with 11:08 left in the half.

ite went on a 39-yard quarterback keeper that resulted in an additional six for Moore County.
After Ross’s kick, the Raiders held a 14-3 lead.
Forrest was forced to punt on the next drive, Moore County then taking over at the Rocket 44-yard line.
Hegwood did much of the heavy lifting on the drive, darting into the end zone from the five with 4:05 still left to play in the half. Ross’s kick was good, and the Raiders had a sturdy 21-3 lead.
The Rockets were able to gain some ground before the half, but could not convert on a 45-yard field goal attempt.
The second half started slowly for both teams.
Finally, after a Forrest punt, White worked his way from the Rocket 43-yard line to the 26, where he lobbed one to Will Parker for the touchdown with 3:00 left in the third frame.
Ross remained perfect, Moore County extending its lead to 28-3.
A little more than halfway through the fourth quarter, the Raiders jumped on a Rocket fumble at their own 20-yard line.
In just four plays, the Raiders cushioned their lead to 35-3 on a 10-yard Gavin Wise touchdown pass to Brantley Hill and a good kick from Ross.
Not ready to back down, the Rockets found themselves in Raider territory one last time, Landon Groeneveld carrying the pigskin on a 34-yard sprint to the four. Ben Villazon dipped across the goal line with 30 seconds left to play, the Rockets taking the 35-10 loss.
The Rockets will travel to Fayetteville Friday for their last regular season game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
