Pregnancy Resource Center holds annual banquet

Posted on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 4:00 pm

In His Image Pregnancy Resource Center has a specific goal for its fourteenth annual benefit dinner this year – securing a permanent location in Chapel Hill.

The benefit dinner will be held on Sep. 14 at the Lewisburg Recreation Center. Seating starts at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m. There is no admission charge, but reservations are required by Sep. 7.

Executive Director Shirley Lowe noticed a growing need in Chapel Hill and opened a second location at Grove Hill Church three years ago. Lowe said, “This is only a temporary location, and the center is grateful for the church allowing us access. Our primary goal this year is to help secure a permanent location in Chapel Hill and this will benefit that dream. I know it’s going to happen.”

Becky Wright will be the keynote speaker and performer. Wright is an award-winning singer/songwriter, published author, and advocate for adoption. With nine children, she still finds time to travel the country singing and speaking at conferences, churches, ministry events, and civic groups.

Lowe is thrilled about the new caterer this year. During the dinner, guests will hear testimonies from a client and a volunteer. Information on volunteering will be provided for anyone interested. Lowe will provide updates on financials, services, and other valuable information. There will also be an ongoing silent auction during dinner. Guests will receive an invitation to contribute so those in need will receive services. Donations are tax-deductible and can be dropped off at the Lewisburg location.

This year’s silent auction has everything from gift certificates, home décor, baskets full of goodies, and artwork. Local businesses and individuals have provided a selection that’s sure to provide something for most everyone’s taste. The big-ticket items are available during the live auction and feature jewelry from Tillis Jewelry, a Lead Sled DFT 2, and a Bowflex home gym.

Funds go towards helping the PRC with the following: compassionate support and assistance to anyone facing a crisis pregnancy, a safe environment to minister to people’s needs, free and confidential pregnancy tests, help with pregnancy decisions, referrals for medical and social services, parenting classes, and baby items.

There are 12 active counselors including a male that works specifically with males, nine receptionists, and two baby boutique specialists. The center is always in need of diapers, wipes, baby clothes, car seats, and furniture items. Right now, there is an overwhelming need for highchairs.

All the PRC services are free and are made possible by donations from businesses, individuals and churches.  Lowe says, “There’s no criteria for a client to come here. If they’re from a wealthy family and need our classes, then we’re open to them. But if they have material needs, we’re open to them too. Everyone’s welcome here: male, female, those with financial needs, and spiritual needs.”

In His Image Pregnancy Resource Center is a non-denominational, non-political pro-life organization. The Lewisburg location is at The Shirley Lowe Building, 101 N. 3rd Ave. and is open Tue. 9 a.m. – noon and 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., Thu. 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. The Chapel Hill location is at Grove Hill Church, 5216 Nashville Hwy. and is open Mon. 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
