Dog Bite

On June 20, Deputy Callens was dispatched to 2220 Highway 40 concerning an animal bite. Contact was made with Ana Quintanilla who stated a brown pit bull attacked her and her son. She said they were walking and the dog ran up to them and started trying to attack her son, knocking him to the ground and scratching up his back. As she attempted to pull the dog off of him, the dog bit her twice on her leg. Quintanilla was transported to Marshall Medical Center for treatment.

Deputy Callen and Deputy Justice made contact with Troy Adams who stated he witnessed the attack and tried to help. Adams said a woman came up, pulled out a gun, and fired it. He did not see what she fired the gun at.

Contact was then made with Katherine Blackwell who stated she fired the gun into the ground to scare the dog, hoping the dog would stop attacking and run away. The owner put the dog up and said he did not know for sure if the dog had up to date shots but he would get records from the previous owner and take them to the Sheriff’s Dept.

Motor Vehicle Accident

On June 20, Lewisburg Police Department Corporal Jenny Frost was dispatched to the area of 1710 Mooresville Highway in reference to a motor vehicle accident. A white Chevrolet Malibu on the roadway with front end damage was observed. Witnesses advised the driver threw beer bottles from the vehicle in the grass and the male ran and entered IGA. They also advised they saw a green GMC Yukon rear ended by the driver of the Malibu and they turned around and drove east on Mooresville Highway.

Corporal Frost was approached by the manager of Bestway and advised the driver of the Malibu was still in IGA. He also stated that he followed the driver of the green GMC Yukon to advise her of the wreck. Contact was made with the male in IGA. OFC placed him in custody and transported him to the jail. OFC Mojica made contact with the female, LeKeitra Blakemore on Old Columbia Road and placed her in custody and she was also transported to the jail. Both vehicles were towed, beer bottles were picked up, and removed from the church parking lot and documented on body camera and placed back into the Malibu. An inventory was completed in the Malibu and $360 in cash was found in the driver side door in all twenty dollar bills. The cash was placed back in the side door.

OFC Mojica performed a Standardized Field Sobriety Test on the male, Alexander Sanchez, who performed poorly on the test and he was placed into custody. He was then transported to Marshall Medical Center where a search warrant was obtained for a blood draw and then executed.

Sanchez was taken to the Marshall County Jail and charged with DUI, no driver’s license, tampering with evidence and leaving the scene of an accident, total bond of $9,000. Blakemore was charged with revoked driver’s license, leaving the scene of an accident, and financial responsibility (no insurance.)

Traffic Stop/DUI

On June 22, OFC Daniel Martin and Field Training OFC Gunnar Southerland conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a DUI. OFC Martin and FTO Southerland were running a radar at 401 West Commerce Street and observed a SUV traveling at a high rate of speed, 43 mph in a 30 mph zone. Emergency lights were initiated and officers attempted to pull over the SUV. The SUV continued onto Heil Quaker Avenue and turned into a driveway which was the driver’s home.

Contact was made with the driver, Timothy Farlow, who had slurred speech and delayed movement. Farlow stated he had been drinking a little bit but wasn’t drunk and it had been two hours since he had any alcohol. He then grabbed the alcohol containers and dumped the remaining content on the ground. He also stated he did not want to have a blood alcohol test done. Officers transported Farlow to retrieve a blood alcohol content which he then consented to the blood draw. Farlow was transported to the Marshall County Jail and a warrant was issued for DUI.

Shoplifting

On June 24, Corporal Michael Daniels was dispatched to the Dollar General at 1780 Mooresville Highway. Captain Lonny Cook observed a vehicle matching the description given and followed it into the driveway of 642 Jackson Avenue. The occupants in the vehicle matched the description given by the manager of Dollar General, as a black male and white female driving an older model black Ford F-150.

Contact was made with the complainant who saw the black male place a pack of t-shirts into a backpack. The total value was only $11 but they wanted to pursue charges and issue a ban notice.

The male admitted to taking the t-shirts but the name and info he gave wasn’t found to be accurate through dispatch. He continued giving a false name and was arrested for shoplifting. While completing a search, a plastic straw/tube containing a white powdery substance, believed to be an illegal substance, was found. While on the way to the Marshall County Jail, the male admitted to giving a fake name and stated Jason Carey is his real name. This was confirmed through dispatch. Carey was charged with theft, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and criminal impersonation.
