House Fire-One Fatality
There was a house fire on Nov. 29 at 1609 Wallace Thompson Road, Lewisburg. A large amount of smoke was seen coming from the house but no visible fire. Deputy Michael Bermudez had prior knowledge of who lived at the house and the layout of the home due to a past call at the residence. Deputy Bermudez knocked and announced several times but did not get a response. Due to the emergency situation, forced entry was made. Deputy Bermudez entered the residence, the smoke was so thick and black, it was hard to see well. Deputy Bermudez could not see in front of him and the bedroom was too hot to continue to enter so he evacuated the house.

After several attempts, we did not receive a response to the outcome of this incident or this would have been reported last week.
After learning more of this, Gary Nelson Rogers, the resident of this house, did not make it out of the residence.
Bills & McGaugh Funeral Home assisted his family with the arrangements.
