LORETTO — Hits were hard to come by for the Marshall County Tigers (1-1) on Tuesday night at Loretto.
The Mustang pitching staff held the Rockets to just three hits as Loretto (2-0) took the 5-1 non-district win over the Tigers.
A hit batter and a walk set up the Mustangs for the first run of the game, which came on a RBI single in the bottom of the first.
Loretto added a second run in the inning on bases-loaded walk.
After starting pitcher Mason Tidwell sat the Tigers down in order for the second inning, Loretto added a third run on a RBI double in the bottom of the second.
After the first 12 Tiger batters were retired, it was Reid Mitchell who broke up the no-hitter with a leadoff single in the fourth.
Loretto went on to add one run in the fifth and sixth innings before the Tigers finally got on the board in the top of the seventh when Mitchell scored on a wild pitch.
Lucas Hery, Hayden Williams and Mitchell all singled to lead the Tiger offense on Tuesday.
Eli Cross went the distance and gave up five runs on four hits, while striking out seven.
The Tigers are back on the road on Thursday, traveling to Bell Buckle to face the Webb School at 4 p.m.
