Nancy Jane Lasky Quade, 86, of Lewisburg, Tennessee passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024. Nancy was born August 23, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In July of 1939, she was adopted by Samuel G. Lasky and wife, Leona. Leona passed away in February of 1944. Mr. Lasky then married Melba Bowman Pease in November of 1944, a widow with two daughters.
From 1948 until April of 2012, Nancy lived in the Washington/Maryland/Virginia area before moving to Tennessee. She married Robert Leon Hargrove and then had one son, Ronald. After his passing, she married Thomas E. Quade. Mr. Quade passed away in December of 2011.
Nancy graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington D.C. in June of 1956 and attended Strayer Business School in Washington D.C. In November of 1957, she went to work for the Federal Government at the Bureau of Indian Affairs. In February of 1971, she left the Bureau and went to work for the Department of Energy, then returning to the Bureau of Indian Affairs to finish her government career. She retired in September of 1993.
In 1997, Nancy located and met her biological mother, Ahniwake Sanders Courter. Ahniwake got both Nancy and Ronald enrolled with the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
After retiring, she enjoyed genealogy, reading, arts and crafts, music and going to watch her son, Ronnie play his guitar.
Nancy is survived by her son, Ronald L. Hargrove (Lisa); sisters, Alice McVearry and Sandra E. Courter; sister-in-law, Bonnie Faye Reese; step granddaughter, Brandy Hargrove (Dane); step great-grandchildren, Kaesen Hargrove and Cait Hargrove; many beloved nieces, nephew and extended family and friends.
Visitation was held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2024, and 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Bills McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home. The graveside service was at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Lone Oak Cemetery. Ronald Hargrove, Danny Hargrove, Dane Hargrove, Paul Reese, Randy Hanson and Mike Mills served as pallbearers.
