WOODBURY — Have a night Taylor Moreland.
After the Forrest Lady Rockets fell behind 4-0 in the first inning, Taylor Moreland took over in the pitcher’s circle and shut down the Cannon County offense, not allowing a single hit in six innings and striking out 15 batters.
She also did her damage at the plate, going 3-for-4 with seven RBIs as Forrest rallied past the Lionettes, 11-4.
Things looked grim in the first inning as Cannon County jumped on starting pitcher Ella Chilton, recording three singles and a double.
Forrest eventually got on the board and pulled within one run with a three-spot in the top of the third, but tied the game in the top of the fourth on a RBI double by Haddie Van Patton.
After Emory Hall hit a sac fly to right that scored the go-ahead run, Moreland went to work at the plate and mashed a two RBI double to left.
Two innings later Forrest loaded the bases with one out, once again bringing Moreland to the plate.
This time, she slugged a grand slam over the left field fence for the final runs of the night.
Although she didn’t record a hit, Hall still was credited with three RBIs and scored twice.
Hailee Warren also went 2-for-2 on the night.
