Mcaulay Sepulveda, a 2023 Marshall County High School, graduate spoke to the Advanced Manufacturing class at Spot Lowe Technology Center on Wednesday, January 24th about careers in the construction and welding fields, while praising the skills he learned in his CTE classes.

Sepulveda was in the Welding, Advanced Manufacturing, and Automotive programs of study during high school and had a job prospect soon after graduation.  “I learned hands-on skills, teamwork and professionalism from my instructors,” he stated about the CTE programs.

As a member of UA Local 572, Sepulveda is in their 5-year Plumbers, Pipefitters and Steamfitters apprentice program which combines learning a skilled trade while also earning a living wage. He attends classes two nights a week and is in the field training with experienced mentors. Currently, he is working at the new $2.3 billion GM Ultium Cells LLC battery plant that is under construction in Spring Hill.

This past summer he attended a two-week MC3 Apprentice Readiness Program, a pathway to registered apprenticeship in the Union skilled building trades. The program provides comprehensive job placement support to all graduates to ensure their success as they transition into the workforce.

While attending the readiness program, Sepulveda said he showed his handbook from Mr. Danny Adam’s class to his instructors and “they were so impressed that they wanted to put me in the electrician trade.”

During his visit to Mr. Adam’s class he shared about the education and training he benefited from Spot Lowe and encouraged the students to continue taking classes because the skilled trades are a highly paid field with careers all over the world.

“The teachers here can help take you wherever you want to go,” he added.
