Marshall County Horseman’s Association Scholarships

The Marshall County Horseman’s Association announces its 2023 scholarship winners. Hannah Grace Hollingsworth, Adam Lane Hopper, Grayson Brooke Riner, John Morgan Thomas IV, Clara Jean Thompson, and Jessie Beth Woodard will each receive a scholarship award.

Hannah Grace Hollingsworth is the daughter of Keith and Kellie Hollingsworth of Lewisburg. Hannah graduated from Marshall County High School and played tennis for three years. She was a member of BETA Club, Educators Rising, FBLA, FCA, and Sub Deb sorority. She has won many “A” honor roll awards and graduated with Magna Cum Laude distinction. She served on Junior Leadership Marshall. She plans to further her education at Columbia State Community College and then move forward to Middle Tennessee State University with a major in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She plans to become a Speech Pathologist.

Adam Lane Hopper is the son of Donnie and Danielle Hopper of Lewisburg. Adam graduated from Cornersville High School in 2023. Adam has volunteered many times at this show on the gates with his grandmother, Carol Wakefield and his aunt, Paulette Ewing. He plans to further his education at TCAT Nashville with a major in Diesel Fuel Systems with plans to become a Diesel Mechanic.

Grayson Brooke Riner is the daughter of John Paul and Taryn Riner of Petersburg. Grayson graduated from Cornersville High School. She played Soccer and Basketball and was a member of Beta Club, FBLA, and Junior Leadership. She won the Microsoft Specialist Certification and plans to further her education at The University of Tennessee at Martin with a major in Business Management/Accounting. She hopes to become an Accountant.

John Morgan Thomas IV, is the son of Morgan and Julie Thomas of Lewisburg. John Morgan graduated third in his class at Marshall County High School. He played football and baseball and was a two-time All-District baseball player and two-time First Team All-Region Football Player. He was a member of Student Council, Beta Club, and FCA. He has won pre-calculus and calculus competitions at UT Southern, MVP Male Athlete Spring Award, and the Tiger Pride Award from MCHS. John Morgan served on the First National Bank Youth Board and has been serving MCHA and this show alongside his grandmother, Edwina Thomas, for many years. He plans to further his education at Tennessee Technological University with a major in Civil Engineering, with plans to become a Structural Engineer.

Clara Jean Thompson is the daughter of Jason and Harriet Thompson of Cornersville. Clara Jean is graduate of Cornersville High School and is currently a Sophomore at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. She is an active member of Clemson’s Baptist Collegiate Ministry and is involved in numerous clubs including Tigers for Life, Clemson’s Collegiate Horseman’s Association, and Sigma Alpha Lambda. She has served on TWHBEA committees for several years. Once she completes her Biological Sciences degree with Clemson, she plans to attend medical school to pursue a future in Maternal Fetal Medicine.

Jessie Beth Woodard is the daughter of daughter of Richard and Tina Woodard and the late Cindy Woodard of Cornersville. Jessie graduated from Cornersville High School, where she played soccer and basketball. She was a member of FBLA, FCCLA, Student Council, the Bank Board, and FCA. She was named 2022 Cornersville Football Queen and has volunteered at HOPEtown, organizing clothes and pantry items. She plans to further her education at Tennessee Tech University with a major in nursing and hopes to one day become a labor and delivery nurse.

The Marshall County Horseman’s Association congratulates all of these deserving students on receiving these scholarship awards and wishes them well in their bright futures. Proceeds from the annual horse show, directly funds these scholarships.
