It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louise Spain, a beloved member of the Mooresville and Lewisburg communities. Louise was born on August 29, 1943, in Pulaski, Tenn. to Everette and Julia Griggs Williams. She passed away on August 26, 2024, at the age of 80, at NHC Lewisburg.
Louise was well-known for her vibrant personality and love of life. She cherished moments filled with laughter, dancing, and singing, often seen frequenting the Briar Patch for a night of dancing with friends. One of her favorite pastimes was taking her grandchildren on scenic drives along the Natchez Trace, where they would sometimes camp out under the stars. A true Elvis Presley fan, Louise’s devotion to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll was unwavering. She also found joy in solving crossword puzzles, completing word searches, and reading by the light of her cherished lighthouses. Devoted to her faith, Louise was a member of the Lewisburg Chapel United Methodist Church, finding solace and peace in her spiritual community.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Spain, and her parents. She is survived by her sons, Timmy (Christy) Spain of Lynnville, Tenn., Jay (Kathy) Spain of Lewisburg, Tenn., Tony (Susan) Spain of Columbia, Tenn., Eddy (Olga) Spain of Nashville, Tenn. and Barry Spain of Columbia, Tenn.; daughters, Lisa (Ronnie) Wright and Dawn Spain, all of Lewisburg, Tenn.; brothers, Tony (Melissa) Williams of Belfast, Tenn. and Randy Williams of Lynnville, Tenn.; sister, Mitzi (Phil) Hamlett of Pulaski, Tenn.; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren with one more on the way this coming January; and her fur baby, Foxy.
The funeral service to honor and celebrate Louise’s life was held at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home, in Lewisburg, Tenn., Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. with burial following. Visitation took place Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and resumed at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024, until the funeral hour of 10:00 a.m. Friends and family were invited to gather and pay their respects to a cherished member of our community. Louise’s final resting place was at Bryant Cemetery, where she will forever be surrounded by the beauty of the Tennessee countryside that she held so dear.
