Brush Fire

At approx. 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, Belfast units along with Marshall County Emergency Management Agency were dispatched to the 2800 block of Liberty Valley Road for a reported brush fire caused by a bush hog striking a rock creating a spark that ignited the field. Upon arrival on scene additional resources were immediately requested from Marshall, Bedford, and Lincoln counties as well as the State of Tennessee Division of Forestry. While neighboring agencies were en route, a mandatory evacuation was implemented for the residents adjacent to the property. Once additional resources arrived on scene, a unified command was established. Fire personnel began efforts to protect surrounding residents. The State of Tennessee Division of Forestry arrived on scene and joined the unified command as well as assisted with the containment of the fire by cutting a fire line between the fire and adjacent residents. The mandatory evacuation was lifted once the fire line was cut and the fire was classified as contained. Fire units monitored the area over the next 24 hours to manage any remaining hot spots. It was determined that approximately 46 acres had burned along with several round bales of hay.

Belfast Rural Fire Department Inc. would like to send out our gratitude to the following:
