Over $20,000 was put directly into our own community by The Lewisburg Rotary Club earlier this month. The club raises money throughout the year and gives it all away to the community. The first give away for 2023 was to teachers but that was only the beginning, there’s more to come.
Rotarians had the honor of presenting Lewisburg teachers with $100 each to help cover the cost of classroom supplies. Teachers also received a letter of appreciation that opened with a quote from Aristotle: “Those who know, do. Those who understand, teach.”
President Elect Ashley Harris said, “Rotary’s motto is ‘Service Above Self” and our teachers live this motto for our children every day. We give away thousands of dollars every year, but this is the first time we’ve given to teachers.”
All of this was made possible by their three annual fundraisers: the Rotary Carnival at Rock Creek in May, a Kentucky Derby Party, and a 4th of July Golf Tournament at the Lewisburg Recreation Center.
Harris said, “Honestly, it was amazing going to give the money away. I went to MCHS and Spot Lowe with Phil George and Peter Haley. Other Rotarians went to other schools. It was the best day ever!”
