LEWISBURG — An early lead against visiting Lawrence County didn’t hold as a cold spell on the offensive end of the court ultimately was costly in the second half as the Tigerettes fell 47-35.
The Tigerettes jumped out to an early 12-9 lead, with Meshawna Ridley scoring five points in the first half.
Adrianna White added a 3-pointer as well, but the Lady Wildcats rallied to outscore Marshall County 9-5 in the second quarter to take an 18-17 lead into the half.
Ridley continued to do her part and pitched in eight more points in the third quarter, coupled with another 3-pointer, but it was a 17-point effort in the third period by Lawrence County that surged the Lady Wildcats into the commanding lead.
Ryann Hughes scored eight points as well and by the end of the third, Lawrence County led 35-28.
The visitors closed the night with 12 more points in the fourth quarter, while the Tigerettes simply struggled to score and were held to five.
Lawrence County’s Liyah Dixon added six in the fourth to help keep the double-digit lead in hand.
Ridley did her part and led all scorers with 18 points, including three treys, but the Tigerettes struggled to give more support on the offensive end of the court.
Hughes led Lawrence County with 15 points.
Lawrence County also went 12-for-19 at the charity stripe, while Marshall County made good on just 6-of-6 attempts.
