Warren Gill shows the long rifle from his family home

Gill grew up outside of Petersburg on the historic Greer-Gill Farm, which is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. That farm belonged to the Greer family before the Gill family purchased it in 1943. The land that became the Greer-Gill Farm was originally part of a 2,566-acre land grant that was awarded to Joseph Greer, Revolutionary War veteran, in December 1794.

Gill showed the audience photos of the historic home and talked about growing up there. He brought several items to show the audience including the long rifle from the farm that will still fire, a half-share from the Petersburg Colt Show Association that was held in in August 1895, amongst other things.

He also brought copies of his three books including his newest release, “Princess of Horses.”
