BELL BUCKLE — After dropping two-straight games, the Lady Rockets (3-2, 2-0) have been on a tear to open the District 9-AA campaign.
After a 15-0 win over Grundy County on Tuesday, Forrest returned to action on Thursday and won another 9-AA tilt in convincing fashion, beating Cascade 16-1.
The Lady Rockets hammered Cascade (1-6, 0-1) for 18 hits and were led by senior Christa Warren, who went 3-for-4 on the night with a double and RBI to her credit.
Sarah King also had a great night at the plate, also going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs driven in.
Emory Hall was 2-for-3 with a triple as well.
In the pitcher’s circle, Ella Chilton went six innings and gave up one unearned run on two hits, while striking out four.
Taylor Moreland pitched a scoreless seventh inning, with three strikeouts.
Forrest grabbed the 3-0 lead in the top of the first, with RBIs by Abby Ferguson, Chilton and a run by Warren that scored on a Cascade error.
Forrest later added a run in the second and third innings before exploding for four runs in the fifth inning.
Four singles and an error helped the Lady Rockets blow the game wide open.
Another run crossed in the sixth inning, but Forrest closed the game with an exclamation point with a five-run seventh that included a RBI triple by Emory Hall and RBI doubles by Haddie Van Patton and Leslie Bartoli.
Forrest gets a bit of a break until April 1 when the Lady Rockets will host Cannon County at the Field of Dreams, with a 5:30 p.m. first pitch scheduled.
