CHAPEL HILL — After dropping back-to-back games to Riverdale and Summertown, the Forrest Lady Rockets (2-2) opened their district schedule with a monster 15-0 win over Grundy County on Tuesday night.
Forrest hammered the Lady Yellow Jacket pitching staff to the tune of 13 hits, with 11 different players connecting on hits for Forrest.
The biggest hit of the night came off the bat of Ella Chilton, who slugged a two RBI double in the Lady Rockets’ 10-run second.
Maggie Daughrity went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles as well.
In the pitcher’s circle, Taylor Moreland got the start and the win, pitching three shutout innings, while striking out four.
Lindsey Lee worked the final two innings in relief and despite giving up a pair of base hits, struck out three batters and preserved the shutout.
Forrest continues its district slate on Thursday at Cascade, with a 5:30 p.m. first pitch.
