UNIONVILLE — A lop-sided first half was the difference as the Forrest Lady Rockets fell to backyard rival Community on Friday night, 55-39.
The Viqueens blasted out of the gates and were effectively able to score in the lane, as well as work their way to the free throw line.
In the first frame alone, Community went for 7-of-8 attempts at the charity stripe, while Taylar Wessner added nine more, including a 3-pointer.
Cadence Chapman did her part to lead the Lady Rockets in the first, scoring six of the first 11 points by Forrest.
Still, Community held a 22-11 lead by the end of the frame.
While Communty’s torrid start slowed in the second, the Viqueens till scratched together another 13 points, with Forrest adding eight, including 3-point baskets by Kinslee Inlow and Josie Brown.
Chapman also added another basket before the half as well.
While the first half tilted in favor of the hosts, Forrest matched the Viqueens’ total point production in the second half, but never could get over the hump to make a run at Community’s 16-point lead.
Both teams added just five points in the third quarter before getting loose for 15 points in the fourth.
Inlow added six to lead Forrest in the final frame, while Chapman chipped in two more baskets.
Community’s Alyssa White led all scorers with 22 points, while Chapman led the Lady Rockets with 14.
