CHAPEL HILL — The Forrest Lady Rockets fell to the Green Hill Hawks on Tuesday in a 7-3 loss at the Field of Dreams.
The Lady Hawks struck early, putting two runs on the board in the top of the first frame.
Green Hill added to its early lead in the top of the second, loading the bases for Maliyah Wilkins, who grounded out to second scoring Alyx Frost.
A Lady Rocket error led to the Hawks plating two more runs, giving the Lady Hawks a healthy 5-0 lead after two innings.
Thanks to a Green Hill error and a wild pitch, Briley Burnham landed on third in the bottom of the second with only one out, ultimately scoring on a single from Ella Chilton.
With bases loaded and two outs, Maggie Daughrity reached on an error and scored pinch runner Maddy Ille, Forrest closing the gap, 5-2.
It wasn’t until the top of the fifth that the Lady Hawks struck again on a two-run home run from Chezney Whipker.
Daughrity crossed home in the bottom of the fifth on a Christa Warren single, but the Lady Rockets were unable to recover.
Taylor Moreland started in the circle for the Lady Rockets, giving up 12 hits and six runs over seven innings with one strikeout.
Abby Ferguson and Emory Hall each went 1-for-2 for Forrest, while Chilton went 1-for-3 with a RBI.
