CORNERSVILLE — The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs were hard to keep up with Tuesday night, getting the win at home over the Forrest Lady Rockets ,41-28.
Both teams held promise as they took the court, but it didn’t take long for the Lady Bulldogs to establish their ground.
Two minutes into the game, it was an even four, but Cornersville went on a 16-0 run that lasted halfway through the second quarter.
Forrest broke the drought by finding senior Cadence Chapman inside to make the score 19-6 with 4:33 left in the half.
Cornersville’s Ady Gentry continued leading the way, scoring down low, too much to handle with Chapman on the bench with two fouls.
At the half, the Lady Bulldogs had a sturdy 24-9 lead.
The third frame proved to be the best for the Lady Rockets, Kinslee Inlow picking up six of the team’s 12 points to close the gap, the team going to the charity stripe four times.
It was too little too late for the Lady Rockets, though, Cornersville hanging on to their early lead despite being outscored in the second half.
Gentry led all scorers with 14 points, while Anna Wood added 12 for the Bulldogs. Inlow led the Lady Rockets with 12.
