Juanita Doggett Farrar
Juanita Doggett Farrar peacefully entered eternity to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. She joins those asleep in death; her beloved husband of 65 years, Leonard Farrar, grandson, Robby Dunnavant, grandson by marriage, Marquis Martin III, her parents, Hurshall Gaston and Sarah Helen Creecy Doggett, three brothers, Herschel (Mary) Doggett, Thomas (Helen) Doggett, Ronald (Ann) Doggett, sister Dorothy (Paul) Short and brother-in-law, James York.
Juanita was born May 18, 1935, in Nashville, Tennessee. She attended Beech Hill High School and Nashville Draughons Business College. While studying business, she was a member of the basketball and softball teams. Though petite in stature, she was remembered for her stealthy effective “outside shot.” After graduating, Juanita worked in Nashville as a bookkeeper and sales for a brick and bread company.
Juanita and Leonard Farrar were married on October 1, 1955, in Iuka, Mississippi. They lived in Lenoir City and Lewisburg, Tennessee, before finally settling in the Brick Church, Tennessee, community to farm and raise their four girls. Juanita was a lady of great character and courage and possessed many talents. Her beautiful smile, thoughtful and caring nature and wicked sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew her. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She lived the values she preached, always putting others first. She loved and feared the Lord (member of Odd Fellows Hall Church of Christ) and cared deeply about the future of our nation and its children. She was a wonderful cook known especially for her peach cobbler. She loved the outdoors, working in her yard and flowers, enjoyed drawing and was a creative seamstress. She loved all sports but her most passionate love was reserved for her family. She often stated “how rich in family” Leonard and I are but to those of us who called her mom, she was the real treasure.
Juanita is survived by her much loved daughters, Cheryl (Payton) Hewitt, Jacqueline (Brad) Clark, Beverly (Robert) Dunnavant, Anita (Bill) Stephens; 10 adored grandchildren and 13 precious great-grandchildren; sister, Annette York and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
