John (Johnny) Jackson Boyett, 78, died Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Maury Regional Hospital. He was born in Marshall County to the late John Robert Boyett and Lois Ownby Knott. He was a member of Lewisburg First United Methodist Church where he received the Holy Spirit as a child. He graduated from Marshall County High School in 1963, attended Martin Methodist College, and graduated from The University of Tennessee – Knoxville in 1967 with a degree in Finance. He was retired from the US Treasury Department and an avid fan of the UT Vols and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He last settled in Lewisburg in 1984, where his family has resided for seven generations since 1810.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Killingsworth in 2009. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Thompson Boyett of Lewisburg; a son, Clint (Jenny) Boyett of Cookeville, Tenn. and a daughter, Julie (Tom) Rylander of DuPont, Wash.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, Ryleigh Boyett, Jackson Boyett, and Sophie Rylander.
Visitation with the family was held at London Funeral Home, 324 West Church Street, Lewisburg, Tenn., on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Lewisburg First United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.
