Joe Benny Burns

Joe Benny Burns, 83, of Petersburg, Tennessee, died Saturday, December 28, 2024, at his residence.

He was born February 18, 1941, in Valdese, North Carolina, to the late Worth and Mary Houser Burns. He was a minister for the Churches of Christ. He ministered in Farmington, Mt. Herman, Petersburg, Jefferson City/Morristown, and with his wife, owned the Wee Care Learning Center Inc. of Morristown. He was a caretaker for Talley Cemetery, enjoyed fixing knives and musical instruments, studying the Bible, and preaching and teaching the word.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Pate and brother, Johnnie Burns.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Franklin Burns; daughter, Emily (Tony) McKennon of Petersburg; son, Brad (Christine) Burns of Knoxville; grandchildren, Samantha and Sierra Campbell, Haley, Brianna, and Zachary Renfro; sisters, Rachel Greene, Janie Burns, and Rita Burns; a brother, Nelson Burns; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family was held at London Funeral Home, 324 West Church Street, Lewisburg, Tennessee, on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until noon.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at noon from the chapel of London Funeral Home and burial followed in Talley Cemetery at Cane Creek.
