Elizabeth Jobe celebrated her birthday Friday, November 17. She was 105 years old. Yes, 105! Jobe resides at Village Manor Assisted Living where she has lived for five years.
Jobe taught school for 35 years in the Marshall County School System and stated she enjoyed every minute of her teaching days. She has been blessed with two children, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Over the years, her health has been excellent. “I’ve been blessed to have such good health. The only time I had to stay in the hospital is when I gave birth to my two children,” stated Jobe.
She was asked if there was anything she ever wished for during her life time that she never had. “I always wished for a sister. I had two older brothers who petted me to death and were so good to me, but I always wanted a sister.”
Besides teaching, she loved gardening and still loves flowers. Her Thanksgiving cactus that sits in front of her window, is full of buds and will have beautiful blooms by Thanksgiving Day. Her mother loved gardening as well and taught her everything she knew about flowers and how to care for them.
Several friends stopped in to tell her happy birthday and more will see her before the day is over. She showed the cards that she has received and said she will count them later.
Elizabeth Jobe, a sweet and sincere lady who has a great life and great family support. To live this long and witness so many changes over the years is a great accomplishment. Hope you had a wonderful birthday.
