Janet George WhiteJanet George White, 67, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at her home in Petersburg surrounded by her family. She was born in Lewisburg, to the late Macklin George and Elinor Glenn George.
Visitation with the family will took place at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral home, Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and resumed Friday, October 13, 2023, at 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. offering solace to friends, family, and community members who wish to pay their final respects. Funeral services in honor of Janet Elizabeth White were held Friday, October 13, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home and burial followed at Round Hill Cemetery in Belfast.
Janet was a former special education teacher, an integral part of running the family business and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Janet was passionate about art. With this passion she helped the community by reviving the Marshall County Art Guild. Janet also found solace and comfort in the serenity of her home and farm in Liberty Valley.
However, above all else, Janet’s heart truly belonged to her family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and found joy in their company. Though she will be deeply missed, Janet will forever remain in our hearts, her memory eternally preserved in the beauty she created, the love she shares, and the lives she touched.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sheryl Ilene George. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, David White; daughter, Mary Leigh (Mark) Pirtle of Franklin; son, Matthew (Meredith) White of Lewisburg; four grandchildren, Hayes Pirtle, Hallie Pirtle, Sloane White andĀ Sutton White; and three brothers, Phillip (Lydia) George, Kenneth George, and David George of Lewisburg.
