James Clarence Hobby, age 87, formerly of the Mooresville community, died Thursday, September 12, 2024, at NHC Oakwood.
He was born June 4, 1937, in Marshall County, to the late Jimmie C. and Elaine Wilson Hobby. He was a farmer and a member of the Wilson Hill Church of Christ and was a former elder of Mooresville Church of Christ. He served in the Tennessee National Guard, and loved farming, family and church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marietta Briggs Hobby in 2013, a brother, William Leonard Hobby and a granddaughter, Mary Beth Hopkins.
He is survived by his wife, Lavonne Short Lowrance Hobby of Cornersville; two daughters, Cynda Hobby (Barry) Hooten of Lewisburg and Linda Kay Hobby of the Mooresville community; three grandchildren, Jamie Chapman, Clay Nunley, and Alania Tatum; ten great- grandchildren.
Visitation with the family was held at London Funeral Home on Sunday, September 15, 2024, from noon until 1:30 p.m.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home, 324 West Church Street, Lewisburg, Tennessee, and burial followed in Bryant Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
