MURFREESBORO — An 11-run fifth inning landed the Marshall County Tigerettes a key District 8-AAA win on Monday night, beating Central Magnet 16-5.
Marshall County took advantage of an error and was able to rely on some savvy base running to break a 5-5 tie in the fifth.
Demiyah Blackman ground into a fielder’s choice to give the Tigerettes a 6-5 lead and Marshall County just played add on from there.
Courtney Lynch went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs with a triple, while Anna Stewart went 1-for-4 with two RBIs as well.
Anna Leverette got the start and pitched 2 2/3 innings before Lynch took over and pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, giving up just two hits and striking out five.
The Tigerettes are back in Marshall County on Thursday afternoon, traveling to Cornersville to face the Lady ‘Dawgs at 6 p.m.
