Hot 1st half powers Lady Dawgs past Santa Fe

CORNERSVILLE — It was a dominant effort in Friday night’s district win over Santa Fe for Cornersville.
Ten different Lady Dawgs penciled their name into the scoring column and Cornersville crushed Santa Fe, 61-40.
It was an all-out blitz from the opening tip-off for Cornersville.
The Lady Dawgs raced out to a 14-6 lead after the first quarter and that lead only grew with 19 more points in the second.
Anna Wood led the charge with a pair of second-quarter 3-pointers and Abigail Finley added six more from in the paint.
Even after the halftime intermission, Cornersville exited the half and poured on another 19 points, spread among six players, with Wood again leading the charge.
She added seven more in the quarter, including another 3-pointer.
With the game well in hand, Cornersville worked the bench onto the floor and Santa Fe finally found a few shots falling in a 17-point fourth, but was unable to make a run at Cornersville’s 20-point lead.
Finley joined Wood in double figures with 11 points and as a team, the Lady Dawgs connected on eight treys.
Santa Fe got hot in the fourth frame and it was Addison Prince who led the visitors with 10 points.
