The Marshall County Historical Society will meet Sunday afternoon, February 4, at 2:00 p.m. in the museum at Hardison Annex at 230 College Street. Cornersville historian, Scotty Brock, will present the program using his many years of collected data on the history of the Lewisburg Railroad Line, a section of L & N Railroad which began about 1912 and is currently in service with CSX Transportation.
Brock is a 1979 graduate of Marshall County High School and an alumnus of Columbia State Community College. He spent the first 25 years of his career working in the manufacturing industry. He later worked for 10 years as the Cornersville City Recorder and for six years as the Administrator for the Town of Cornersville where he retired in 2021. He recently came out of retirement and took a job with Allied Universal Security at Walker Die Casting.
Brock’s love for history began at an early age and was evidenced in the many photographs he took of sporting events and local landscapes. The History of Cornersville which he researched and published during 2006-2007 has been a popular guide to the early days of the community he calls home. It was fortunate for the Historical Society that Brock captured so many local memories before the passing of some of Cornersville’s most memorable citizens.
He has been married to the former Nona Stewart of the Crosses’ Restaurant family for the past 38 years. Together they have two daughters, Shelby (Preston) Pratt and Sydney (Adam) DuBose. When interviewed he calls attention to his three “amazing” grandchildren. Spending time with them is listed as his hobby and favorite pastime. The Brocks are active members of the Cornersville Church of Christ. The meeting is free and open to the public. Anyone who has train memorabilia to share is encouraged to bring it along to the meeting. Come along Sunday afternoon and enjoy the fun.
