Great Turnout for Town Hall

Almost 80 people showed up last Thursday, Feb. 29, for the Marshall County Prevention Coalition’s Town Hall. There were tables set up by Veterans Outreach, Department of Health, Agape, Freeman Recovery Center, A Step Ahead (Middle Tennessee), Buffalo Valley, Inc., Columbia State Community College, TN Save a Life, Haven of Hope, Kim Young M.S. Independent Therapist, Mental Health Court, Mental Health Cooperative, Recovery Court, and a table for voter registration.

The panelists were: Nikki Reynolds-Community Health Worker at Centerstone; Lonnie Cook-Captain at Centerstone; Allison Cathey-Administrative Assistant for Marshall County Youth Services; Dustin Ritchie-Regional Overdose Prevention Specialist for Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services; Jess Limbird-RCORP Coordinator with Rural Health Association of Tennessee; Julie Hillin-Director of Nursing at Buffalo Valley, Inc.

Liz Bensinger, Chair of the coalition asked panelists questions about Naloxone-a medicine that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose (also called Narcan), Marshall County substance abuse trends, mental health, smoking cessation, youth accessing vape products, and substance use treatment.

Also on site for tours was the mobile health clinic that provides free behavioral and physical health services. They set up in Lewisburg from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at 627 N 2nd Ave.
