The 2023 season opened at Hoover Lights on the Friday after Thanksgiving and will run until its final show of the year on New Year’s Eve night. The lights are on every night of the week from 4:30 – 10:00 p.m. On the weekend, you might even be able to grab some hot chocolate next door for just $1.00.
The Hoover family has dazzled the community with their computerized Christmas light show since 2005. In 2005, Chad Hoover was just 16 years old when he created “Lights on Old Charlotte” in Franklin – it was just shy of 10,000 computerized lights back then. In 2013, “Lights on Sparrow Street”, their second location in Spring Hill began after Chad married Kelsi. During 2018, the show in Franklin ran for its final year and Spring Hill was paused while the Hoovers’ home was built. Hoover Lights in Chapel Hill was launched by combining the Spring Hill and Franklin displays in 2019. The display now offers an impressive spread of 80,000 lights.
All you have to do is tune your radio to 87.9 FM to see how the lights are synchronized to music. It truly is spectacular. The little ones will likely enjoy the ornaments and trees at the front of the lawn with mouths to sing to the lyrics. Other enjoyable parts are a bible passage over the speaker, Santa dancing on the large tree, an illuminated manger scene, Santa in a helicopter, and LED reindeer.
The light show is free for all to enjoy since it is the family’s way of spreading Christmas cheer. The Hoover’s ask if anyone would like to contribute in any way, they would encourage you to donate to your favorite charity.
