George Ewell Bradley, Sr.

George Ewell Bradley, Sr., 87, of Lewisburg, Tenn., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at NHC Oakwood in Lewisburg.

George was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Farmington, Tenn. to the late John and Lena Mae Darnell Bradley. He was a graduate of Marshall County High School and received his B.S. degree from Middle Tennessee State University. After graduation, he served two years as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. In 1963, he began his working career with Brown Engineering Company in Huntsville, Ala. as a Mechanical Engineer Specialist. In 1968, he brought his engineering knowledge and expertise home to Teledyne initially as a Mechanical Estimator and Planner. He advanced through many engineering and managerial roles until he retired after 35 years as the Director of Facilities in 2003.

George attended Lewisburg First United Methodist Church and served as a Trustee for many years. He took great pride in ensuring the optimal upkeep of the church building and facilities. He was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge and enjoyed attending Friday nights to celebrate with family and friends. His hobbies included spending time with his family, working on his farm and woodworking. When viewing his woodwork, his meticulous attention to detail is evident in the perfection of his craftsmanship.

On Aug. 31, 1963, George married the love of his life, Nancy Jane Boyd. The love they shared for each other began in grade school and continued through 58 years of marriage.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy Jane Boyd Bradley, his eldest son, Brad Bradley and dear sister, Charlene Nicholas.

He is survived by his son, John (Tammy) Bradley of Cornersville; daughter-in-law, Terrie Bradley of Lewisburg; three granddaughters, Lauren (Zach) Johnson, Anna Bradley, and Mary Kate Bradley, and two great-grandsons, Bradley and Grayson Johnson; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family was held at London Funeral Home, 324 West Church Street, Lewisburg, Tennessee, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, from 9 until 11 a.m.

The funeral service was conducted on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home and burial followed in Lone Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Bradley, Zach Johnson, Todd Lovett, Justin Rutledge, Scott Boyd, and Tracy Kilpatrick.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lewisburg First United Methodist Church Building Fund. London Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
