The Robert Lewis Chapter, NSDAR held their Flag Day ceremony at the Abner Houston Memorial Log Cabin on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 10 a.m.
Carol Marsh welcomed everyone to the event. DAR Chaplain Marion Joyce led the invocation and closing prayer. Sisters Marian and Katherine Buckley led the Pledge of Allegiance. Clay Derryberry sang the National Anthem. The Lewisburg Police Color Guard performed the Flag Ceremony.
Emily Gordon introduced the speaker, Frank Sullivan, Executive Director of HOPEtown.
As Sullivan talked about the flag, he explained, “we’ve had 27 official versions of Old Glory that have flown over this land… the land that is your land, and my land, 27. My point is, the flag that we cherish and that we celebrate here today is not a static and unchanging institution. It is a work in progress.”
