Having been part of the Forrest Lady Rocket softball program for the past three seasons, Abby Ferguson recently took the next step in her career as she signed her letter of intent to continue her softball career at Chattanooga State.
Ferguson inked her letter of intent in front of her teammates, family and friends.
“I’m very excited. I’m thankful for all the support and everyone beside me. Coach Shelby (Lightfoot) had sent them my name,” Ferguson said.

Ferguson popped on the radar of Chattanooga State after playing in a showcase in Atlanta and after an official visit, the rest was history.
“I played this summer in Atlanta and she watched some of my games. We started talking and I went on a visit,” she said.
Ferguson has played softball for most of her life, but some of her favorite memories came from playing with the Blue Blaze.
“I started t-ball when I was four or five. Then I went to the blue blaze. Then I’ve been on many travel ball teams. When I was on Blue Blaze because I had all of my best friends and we played with each other for so long. Those are my favorite memories,” she said.
While with the Lady Rockets, Ferguson has been a staple in the Forr

est lineup as a standout centerfielder.
Coupled with her stellar defensive play, Ferguson hopes to work her way into a starting role with the Lady Tigers, as long as she continues to hit throughout her senior season.
For now, Ferguson says the pressure of picking a college destination is off her shoulders and she can focus on helping lead the Lady Rockets back to the state tournament.
She hopes to pursue a degree in nursing.
